Ellijay, also referred to as the “Apple Capital” of Georgia, is located between the Ellijay and Cartecay Rivers. The meaning behind the name Ellijay is thought to be for the English derivative of an Indian word(s) meaning “many waters”, “place of green things” or “new ground”. Within Ellijay, you will find lots of beautiful forests, rivers, parks and streams.

For an adult getaway, be sure to visit Cartecay Vineyards. Their tasting area for visitors features a tasting bar, a sitting area around a wood fire stove, a covered porch, and a beautiful deck to overlook some gorgeous views of the mountains and the vineyard. They also have live music on multiple occasions throughout the year.
