The estimated average price to purchase a house or condo in Gainesville is $161,229, with the rental price at $800 per month. Gainesville is known mostly for its legacy as a regional transportation and trade center. It was given the name “Gainesville” in honor of General Edmund P. Gaines, a hero of the War of 1812, military surveyor and road-builder.

When visiting or looking for something to do with the family in Gainesville, you have multiple options. You can go to the Frances Meadows Aquatic and Community Center where you can swim year-round at their indoor and outdoor waterpark with three-story waterslides. Or, you can take your children to INK (Interactive Neighborhood for Kids Inc.). This is a hands-on children’s museum where kids can play and pretend to be young bankers, grocery store clerks, doctors, firemen and much more, along with playgrounds and rooms for arts and crafts.

If you happen to be in Gainesville in September, check out their annual Art in the Square festival. Here you will find live demonstrations of painting, pottery firing, and more. You’ll also be entertained by belly dancers and live music, along with enjoying great food from local restaurants. Read less –
